The research group "Language, Culture and Identity in the Global Age" (IdentiCat) is attached to the Arts and Humanities Department at the Open University of Catalonia.

Created in 2008, it was recognised in 2009 as an Emerging Research Group (GRE) by the Government of Catalonia (2009 SGR 460), and as a Consolidated Research Group (GRC) in May 2014 (2014 SGR 1516).

Since its inception, the group takes aim at investigating linguistic, literary and cultural issues related to contemporary Catalonia from an interdisciplinary perspective, and also with a comparative focus with the help of international partners.
