Barack Obama's presidential campaign is considered to be the first in the world in which the Internet played a decisive role.
The lecture will examine the circumstances and processes involved in using the Internet in politics, situating the communication and organisational strategies used in the widest context of the values of the campaign and its relationship to the US society.
The analysis will be based on research carried out in the United States between 2007 and 2008 as presented in Manuel Castells' next book, "Communication Power" (Oxford University Press and Alianza, 2009).
