Knowledge Communities
IN3 Knowledge Communities Programme
The Knowledge Community is an association formed by the IN3 research group and two or more research groups from other institutions, at least one of which must be from an institution from a country other than Spain. The association between the different groups will have a term of three years.
The proposal of the group applying to the program has to focus on a specific subject (not a generic research topic) and define a specific scientific product or innovative product that will result from the work of the Knowledge Community at the end of the 3 years. The definition of the product has to include a list of foreseen publications. The Knowledge Community constitution proposal must specify a calendar of tasks and objectives for the three-year term of the project.
The IN3 will provide a grant to the Knowledge Community that is selected, amounting to 30,000 euros per annum, for three years. It is a basic requirement that other Knowledge Community groups from outside the IN3 contribute a matching fund of an additional 30,000 euros per annum. The documented commitment of the parties to set up a fund reserve will suffice as a guarantee (a signed document will be required annually).
In addition to providing 50% of the economic support, the IN3 provides support in terms of administration and coordination and the necessary infrastructures. The IN3 also organises and pays the costs of a seminar for the presentation of the project conclusions, to be held in Barcelona, for the purpose of publishing the project results. Furthermore, a launch meeting (year 1) and a control meeting (year 2) will be organised and supported by the IN3.
The project development will be evaluated every year, and its continuity will depend on the result of that evaluation.
