The Chair has been set up to promote activities of research, training, information gathering and documentation in multilingualism as a means to develop society socially and economically. Moreover, the Chair aims to provide an interdisciplinary area for analysis and reflection on the role of languages and multilingualism in the globalisation process. It also aims to establish an international cooperation framework for academic training in this field.

For this reason, our activities focus on teaching activities, such as the design of a Master's Degree in Cultural and Linguistic Diversity Management,  and on internationalisation, more specifically with the setting-up of a European Network of Chairs in Multilingualism. Moreover, the Chair promotes language technology projects, aimed at supporting multilingualism, and seminars on teaching practices on the willingness to communicate in a L2 as a key aspect for successful learning.
