"Analysis of the first and second gender digital divide"

Descripción de la línea de investigación
The main aims to be achieved with this research project are:

1. To review all theoretical research and empirical resources about the access and use of the Internet by the population (surveys, statistics, reports) that have been carried out in different countries, international organizations and research institutions (OECD; Eurostat; ITU; OXII; UNIFEM; etc.) in order to tackle the topic of the first gender digital divide in quantitative terms (Internet acccess and use; Internet intensity of use and types of Internet use).
2. To develop this field of work and its empirical research in an attempt to verify the relationship between gender differences in computer and Internet skills and abilities (the second digital divide) and gender differences in the election of secondary and university studies
3. To explore new quantitative measures and indicators of the first and second gender digital divide and to elaborate proposals of new indicators that incorporate both quantitative and qualitative components.

Perfil académico

• Graduate in Sociology or others social sciences and humanities studies (economy, psychology, media, geography, political sciences…).
• Experience in teaching and research tasks related to gender issues
• Participation in social action and diffusion activities associated with gender issues
• Publications on gender issues
