The IN3 invites you to the “Learning from what works on the web” research seminar by Professor Brian Lamb, University of British Columbia, Visiting Research Professor at the IN3 invited by the NET2LEARN research group.. The seminar, to be given in English, will be held next Tuesday, December 2 2008.
The purpose of IN3 Research Seminars is to catalyse scientific exchange among IN3 and UOC researchers.

The successful candidates will be able to devote themselves to the projects they presented with their applications on a full-time basis and with full autonomy. Accepting the status of resident researcher entails undertaking the associated professional work at the IN3 building (which will remain in Castelldefels in 2009-2010), where they will have comfortable offices and logistic, administrative and documentary support, along with a research assistant and a budget for pursuing their research work. The subject area concerned in the project submitted must be related to the interdisciplinary area of the information and knowledge society or to information and communication technologies.
Resident researchers are expected to take part in IN3 research seminars, to present their work in those seminars and to play an active part in the academic community formed by the researchers themselves, other IN3 researchers and research groups, IN3 PhD candidates, visiting lecturers and research fellows.
Throughout their time as resident researchers, the faculty selected for these posts will continue to be paid their UOC salaries. The UOC will allocate sufficient resources to the courses the resident researchers had been teaching to enable their teaching work to be suitably covered in their absence.

Professor Brian Lamb, Project Coordinator with the Office of Learning Technology at the University of British Columbia, is to spend the months of November and December at the UOC as a visiting research professor at the invitation of the IN3's NET2LEARN e-learning research group.

Applicants to the Senior Research Fellowship Program must have a distinguished record of research and innovation in e-learning. They must currently hold a position in a University or Research Center. They must be fluent in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Catalan or Spanish languages is not necessary but it is a valued skill.
Appointments can be for periods between a minimum of three months and maximum of one year. Reappointments are excluded. Applicants should supply their complete CV, 3 letters of recommendation from experts in the field of e-learning, and a brief research project (maximum of 5 pages) describing their intended activity in Barcelona. If selected they should be ready to be in full time residence at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute in Barcelona and participate in the seminars and research meetings at the Institute, while pursuing their own research project. A letter of intention motivating the application should be included in the file.
